Glove Anesthesia in Hypnosis - Medical Hypnotherapy Pain management

Helping children and adults with hypnosis and biofeedback.

Hypnosis and biofeedback are cyberphysiologic strategies that enable subjects to develop voluntary control of certain physiologic processes for the purpose of improving health. Self-hypnosis has been used with and without biofeedback for a wide range of therapeutic applications, and both laboratory studies and clinical trials have shown it to be effective in improving symptoms and outcomes in various disorders. More formal Cochrane reviews of hypnotherapeutic interventions are currently under way. Thorough patient assessment should precede training in self-hypnosis in order to properly tailor training strategies to patient preferences and characteristics, especially for children. Workshops offered by various clinical societies are available to train health professionals in self-hypnosis.

What is brain entrainment technology?

Brain entrainment is not a new phenomenon. For thousands of years humans have used the flickering lights of fires, the beating of drums and whirling, changing objects to help induce a trance state. But with the advent of audio technology, science has sought to mimic the environmentally triggered brain entrainment with carefully designed tones and flickering lights. From the Dreammachine (a sound and light machine developed in the 1970’s and embraced by artists to help them achieve altered states) and the discover of binaural beats in that same decade, to the sophisticated technology of the...

Worry, rumination, and hypnosis

When it comes to higher human intelligence, there is curse with which we all live. Our highly developed frontal lobe allows us to anticipate the future and simulate a wide range of potential events. On one hand, this allows us to participate in strategic planning and goal setting as we create our lives. On a more mundane level, these capabilities allow us to do simple task such as walking and driving. On the other hand, when these abilities get out of control they can turn our life into a living hell. Our instinctual drive for self-preservation leads us to identify and seek to avoid any...
